Milk Rate Calculator (FAT & SNF)
Enter the quantity and quality with your dairy's rates to get the amount and rate per litre instantly. Choose the two-axis (FAT + SNF) method used by most cooperatives, or the simpler FAT-only method.
Rates shown are examples — enter your dairy's own current FAT and SNF rates. Nothing you type is stored or sent anywhere; the calculation runs entirely in your browser.
How the milk rate is calculated
Two-axis (FAT + SNF) — the standard for most cooperatives:
- Kg FAT = (Litres × FAT%) ÷ 100
- Kg SNF = (Litres × SNF%) ÷ 100
- Amount = (Kg FAT × FAT rate) + (Kg SNF × SNF rate)
FAT-only — simpler, used by many private buyers: Rate per litre = FAT% × rate per FAT point; Amount = rate per litre × litres.

Frequently asked questions
How is milk rate calculated from FAT and SNF?
In two-axis pricing, Kg FAT = (litres × FAT%)/100 and Kg SNF = (litres × SNF%)/100. Amount = (Kg FAT × FAT rate) + (Kg SNF × SNF rate); divide by litres for the per-litre rate.
What is the FAT-only method?
It multiplies FAT% by a fixed rate per FAT point for the per-litre rate, then by quantity. Simpler, but ignores SNF.
Are the rates fixed?
No — each dairy sets its own FAT and SNF rates, so enter your current rates.
